January 2026 Voter Pamphlet Insert Correction
This story is about printed election information being wrong: some voters got a pamphlet insert where Proposition 1 showed up twice and Proposition 2 information was missing, a clear proofreading and review failure before publication.
In January 2026, Pierce County announced that voters in the Tacoma, Franklin Pierce, and White River school districts would receive corrected voter pamphlet pages because of a misprinted insert.
The county notice said the original insert duplicated Proposition 1 content and omitted the explanatory statement and 'For' statement for Proposition 2. In plain English: voters were supposed to get information about two measures, but the printed insert gave them a repeat of one and left out key information for the other.
This is the kind of issue that should be caught by proofing, review, and final signoff before voter materials go out. If that review was delegated to staff or vendors, the leadership question is still the same: who supervised the process, and why did the mistake make it to voters?
Pierce County said corrected pamphlet pages were mailed beginning January 26, 2026. The county also said ballots were not affected and that corrected information was available online.
This sits in the same basic bucket as the 2024 pamphlet delay: voters can still vote, but the information pipeline failed. Voter pamphlets are supposed to reduce confusion, not create a scavenger hunt for corrected pages.
The fair, sourced takeaway: this was corrected, and ballots were not affected. But when the Auditor's Office has to mail corrected election-information pages because a proposition was duplicated and another proposition's information was omitted, that is a real quality-control miss.
